District 418 Ghana reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable membership growth after participating in the Lions International Mission 1.5 Africa Summit, held from 19–21 June 2026 at the Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Under the theme “Nurturing a Culture of Growth,” the summit brought together District Governors-Elect and Global Action Team (GAT) leaders from across Africa to review progress and strengthen strategies for Mission 1.5.
Representing District 418 Ghana were District Governor-Elect, Lion Ebo Prah Manson PMJF, GLCF, District GMT Coordinator, Lion Kenneth Kwasi Kpodo, and District GET Coordinator, Lion Alberta Y. Mawuse Botchway. Together with fellow leaders from across Constitutional Area VIII, the delegation engaged in strategic discussions aimed at accelerating membership growth and club extension throughout the continent.
During the three-day summit, participants explored practical approaches to building stronger Lions clubs through impactful service, effective marketing, and visionary leadership. Sessions highlighted the importance of using service projects as opportunities to recruit new members, telling compelling stories that showcase Lions’ impact, and strengthening leadership accountability to foster sustainable growth.
District 418 also participated in collaborative breakout sessions with neighbouring districts to review and refine its Mission 1.5 Action Plan. These discussions encouraged the exchange of successful practices and strengthened regional collaboration, ensuring the district is well positioned to implement
innovative membership strategies during the 2026–2027 Lions Service Year.
The summit reinforced several key priorities for District 418 Ghana, including integrating membership growth into every service initiative, enhancing marketing and storytelling efforts, fostering collaboration within the Global Action Team, and maintaining strategic leadership accountability. These insights will support the district’s efforts to expand its reach and increase its impact across communities.
As District 418 Ghana embarks on the 2026–2027 service year under the District Governor’s theme, Service • Fellowship • Friendship, the knowledge and experiences gained from the Mission 1.5 Africa Summit will help drive stronger clubs, meaningful service, and sustainable growth across the district.
