Fellow Lions, distinguished guests, friends, and family, it is with deep gratitude, humility, and an overwhelming sense of responsibility that I stand before you today as the District Governor for the 2025/26 Lions service year. Thank you for the honor and privilege of serving this great district. This moment marks not just a personal milestone but a renewed commitment to our collective journey of service, growth, and leadership. First, allow me to acknowledge and salute the remarkable contributions of the leaders who have come before me. To all Past District Governors, your legacies continue to shape and guide our work. A special appreciation goes to Lion Kate Baaba Hudson, PMJF, for her visionary leadership that led us to attain full district status. To the sitting Governor, Lion Dr. Helena Asamoah-Hassan, PMJF, thank you for your service to the District. Your footprints have left us inspired and better positioned for greater impact. As Lions, our shared identity is rooted in service. The motto “We Serve” isn’t just a phrase-it is a lifestyle, a promise, and a call to action. This year, our theme is Lead to Serve, Serve to Lead. We will serve with joy, excellence, and innovation.

Our Key Thematic Priorities for 2025-2026

1. Hunger — Lions Grow and Nourish. We are launching the Lions Grow and Nourish initiative (under the Feed Ghana Agenda)-a primary school gardening project that teaches children how to grow food while contributing to community hunger relief. We believe healthy food starts with informed children.
2. Youth — Building the Future of Lionism. The Youth Global Cause will take center stage. We will intensify our engagement with Leos, youth organizations, and students, mentoring them as future Lions. Leadership begins with opportunity, and we will create plenty of those.
3. Visibility — Telling Our Story Boldly. Our visibility campaign includes branding at 10 public bus stops across Ghana and media engagements that showcase our impact. We will tell the Lions’ story the Ghanaian way, to the world.
4. Training — Empowering Our Leaders. We will invest in people through capacity-building workshops, leadership seminars, and training for club officers. Every Lion will have the tools and knowledge to lead and serve confidently.
5. Membership Growth — Strength in Numbers. We will drive membership through targeted campaigns focusing on business professionals, media influencers, and young changemakers. Healthy clubs mean greater impact, and diversity will be our strength.
6. Health: Vision, Diabetes & Childhood Cancer. In partnership with healthcare institutions, we’ll deliver impactful screenings and awareness programs that support early detection and care for these pressing health concerns.
7. Environment — Sustainability at the Core. Tree-planting, clean-up drives, and awareness campaigns will help us create greener, healthier communities.
8. Disaster Relief & Humanitarian Support. We’ll strengthen our responses to emergencies and build stronger partnerships with local agencies to respond quickly to crises with compassion and efficiency.

Unifying Our District for Greater Impact

Fellow Lions, as we rise into this new service year, let us remember that our greatest strength lies in unity. It is through collaboration, mutual respect, and shared vision that we can overcome every challenge and amplify our impact. Let us not be divided by our differences, but united by our shared values and our mission to serve.

As District Governor, I am committed to fostering a culture of open dialogue, transparency, and inclusiveness across all clubs. Let us celebrate each other’s strengths, learn from each other’s challenges, and lift one another as we strive toward our collective goals.

Together, let us build a district where every Lion feels seen, heard, and valued.

We begin this service year officially in July, with a powerful Training that will set the tone for a year of Pride, Passion, and Purpose service.

Fellow Lions, our collective strength lies in our unity. Our impact lies in our actions. And our legacy lies in the lives we touch.
